about the Ice Cutter's Christmas
The "11th Annual Ice Cutter's Christmas" will be held at the Silver Star Ranch every Friday and Saturday night from November 25th and 26th (the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving) through December 23rd(the Friday before Christmas) from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The IceWorks is located at 15600 FM 2854 in Montgomery, Texas....just south of Lake Conroe, just north of the Woodlands.
T. Jay Maclaskey, Houston's premier ice artist and his wife Carol, open their ranch each year for an old-fashioned Christmas Ice Sculpture Event which has been featured in "Country Living Magazine" and chronicled by Charles Osgood of CBS on his "Sunday Morning" show. The Maclaskey's Silver Star Ranch is set on 40 rolling acres with a huge old 105-year-old barn which will be full of Christmas lights. You'll walk through the studio freezers to see incredible, sparkling ice sculptures. There will be a jingle-bell hayride through the woods where you'll see dazzling light displays glowing in the dark. You'll see Jay (who won fourth place in the international ice sculpting competition in Asahikawa, Japan) carve ice in performance on our outdoor stage with chainsaws and unique ice chisels. There will be music and storytellers, a roaring campfire (complete with marshmallows on sticks!) and the evening will culminate with The Great Texas Snowball Battle!! Along the way, you'll see all of the miniature horses, llamas, donkeys, baby chicks, rare Sebastopol geese, mini goats and sheep...all kinds of babies to see including "Gidget", who may be the smallest horse in Texas and "Pecos", our huge "gentle as a lamb" longhorned riding steer.
Ice Sculptures are delicate and fleeting "art at the moment" so you have to be there to see them...and be sure to bring your camera! This is one event guaranteed to put you in the Christmas spirit...
Hot chocolate and cookies, warm food and drinks, crafts and make-your-own Christmas ornaments will be available for purchase. There will also be holiday breads, cakes and cookies for sale for your holiday events at home!

The IceWorks at the Silver Star Ranch is located at 15600 FM 2854 in Montgomery, Tecas. Driving north on I-45, take Exit 85 (the Gladstell/FM 2854 exit) and travel on the feeder to the light at FM 2854 (just after the railroad track). Turn left at the light and go exactly 8 miles west to the IceWorks which will be on the right and well lit. Coming from 105 West, take a right at the first traffic light just east of Montgomery and go exactly 8 miles east on FM 2854. The IceWorks will be on the left.
Admission is $5.00 per person. Children under 6 are free.
